Learn to make French macarons

Kathryn Gordon, author of the Les Petits Macarons cookbook, will be in Salt lake City on Monday, April 23, to demonstrate how to make these delicate French meringue cookies.

Her demonstration, sponsored by the Utah Baker's Dozen, runs from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at Viking Cooking School at Kimball Distributing, 2233 S. 300 E. Salt Lake City

Cost is $10

Gordon, a chef instructor at the Institute of Culinary Education in New York City, will discuss two key techniques using meringue, as well as the unique macaronnage folding process. Sweet and savory fillings will be prepared for tasting. A question and answer period follows the demonstration.

Cookbooks will be available for purchase and signing.
