Suburban vegetarians rejoice! The suburban vortex of commerce where south Highland Drive, Rip Van Winkle and 6200 South collide has Spice, a new and sprawling Indian restaurant called. Calling a restaurant Spice in Utah is always risky, you could easily scare off a huge demographic group — the chronically bland.

Don’t worry, you can pre-order your level of heat, ranging from mild, medium and inflammatory. If you overdo it, Spice offers a full bar with various fire-suppression cocktails.

Until The Salt Lake Tribune writes and reports a full review of Spice, a scouting mission found it worth checking out, especially for vegetarians and vegans. Spice’s menu has no less than 17 meatless entrees, including aloo mattar, vegetable momo, paneer masala and vegetable curry. The restaurant also offers takeout service.

We recommend • The baygan bharta, a (medium) spicy eggplant concoction.
