Roots Cafe will be serving a special dinner for Valentine's Day.

Whether you’re looking for meaty breakfasts and sandwiches — or something vegetarian or gluten-free — Roots Cafe can feed your hunger.

The three-month-old restaurant, at 3474 S. 2300 East, in Salt Lake City, is open daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The breakfast menu includes French toast, a pancake of the day, quiche, huevos rancheros, vegetarian breakfast sandwiches and even gluten-free eggs Benedict made with polenta.

Lunch includes soups, salads and sandwiches including a grass-fed beef sandwich, a grilled cheese sandwich of the day and the vegetable “dirt” burger.

Prices from $4.50 to $9.

Coffee, tea, blended drinks and juices also are available.

Roots Cafe shares building space with The Old Flamingo consignment shop and art studios. It also has a large patio that will open with the warm weather, said Wendy Peterson, co-owner with husband Bill Peterson. The couple has almost 40 years of combined restaurant industry experience. Wendy has been a restaurant manager, while Bill has been the chef at The Broiler and Citrus Grill.
