Civics Central: Salt Lake City to discuss arts and climate change

Salt Lake City Council • Will discuss arts and culture along with climate change and clean air; Tuesday, March 27; City Hall, 451 S. State. Work session begins at 2 p.m. with the formal meeting following at 7 p.m.

Salt Lake County Council • Will receive an update on sales-tax figures from the important Christmas shopping season; Tuesday, March 27, 1:30 p.m.; North Building, County Government Center, 2001 S. State. The council also has been requested to release $125,000 for more studies on the development of a film and media center.

Orem City Council • Will vote on an ordinance regulating tow-truck drivers and one creating an opt-out recycling system; Tuesday, March 27, 6 p.m.; City Council Chambers, 58 N. State St. The two-truck proposal would require operators to register with the city, call police dispatch before towing a car, and tow a car to a secured lot before towing another one. The goal: Crack down on predatory towing practices at parking lots. With recycling, residents currently have to sign up for recycling service.
