Car injures teens walking to school in Box Elder County
A car struck and injured two teenage girls walking to Bear River High School on Tuesday.
The girls received minor injuries and were sent home to their parents by the afternoon, said Tammy Stewart, a secretary at the school.
The accident happened about 7:15 a.m. in front of the school, 1450 S. Main St., in Garland. The girls, both juniors, were walking from the natatorium west across Main Street. The traffic lights weren't blinking yet and it was still dark, Stewart said.
A small passenger car, driven by a young adult male, was traveling south when it hit the students, Stewart said. She did not know the speed of the car or whether citations were issued to the driver. A call to the Garland Police Department was not returned.
