Utah opens spring ball Tuesday
The Utes have released their notes and depth chart for spring ball
, which begins next Tuesday.
Of apparent great importance is the school's decision to have the 'Crazy Lady,' perform now at halftime before the Utes run out of the locker room, to help generate excitement in the stands for the start of the second half.
Gratefully, for those who care more about football than spastic dancing, there is plenty of reason to keep the eyes on the field too.
Of note for camp is that Jon Hays, who filled in for the injured Jordan Wynn at quarterback, isn't even on the spring depth chart.
Wynn is No. 1 followed by freshmen Travis Wilson and Chase Hansen.
New offensive coordinator Brian Johnson calls the quarterbacks a 'dynamic' group.
He reiterated Wynn is No. 1 but is excited to see what the freshmen can do.
"To say we have a clear idea how it is going to shape up would be inaccurate," he said. "Jordan is our starting quarterback, but in this league you have to feel good about the depth of the team."
Also of note, former tight end Westlee Tonga has been moved to defensive end and Thretton Palamo has been moved from running back to defensive end.
Tight ends Kendrick Moeai (shoulder), Dallin Rogers (knee) and defensive tackle LT Tuipulotu (knee) will sit out spring practice with injuries.
All practices are open to the public, unless they have to be moved inside due to weather.
