Who doesn’t love a movie about a time-traveling German girl who explores the changes in the past 100 years that advanced women’s rights, made huge strides in science and technology, and illustrate the rewards of family loyalty?

“”Stella and the Star of the Orient,” which was featured at last year’s Tumbleweeds Film Festival for Children & Youth, will be screened for free on Saturday at the Pleasant Valley Branch Library in Ogden, courtesy of the Utah Film Center.

It’s the story of 10-year-old Stella, who, while rummaging in her grandmother’s attic, steps into an antique wardrobe and travels 100 years back in time. She meets her own great-grandmother and great-great-uncle, and the three instantly become fast friends. She learns that their family is in serious financial difficulty and may lose their home — and that an eccentric uncle has hidden a diamond called the Star of the Orient somewhere on the estate.
