Provo police on Tuesday released surveillance camera images they hope will help them identify and arrest two suspects in an armed robbery.

About 10:20 p.m. Monday, the pair walked into the Burger King restaurant at 1160 N. University Avenue, one of them brandishing a 9mm handgun and the other carrying a black wooden baseball bat, said Provo police Sgt. Mathew Siufanua.

“The suspect with the handgun walked behind the counter and took cash from the register. The suspects then made the manager and two other employees walk to the back of the store and empty the safe,” Siufanua said. “The three employees were then commanded to lie down on the ground. The suspects took a cellphone and an iPod off of the victims and then left.”

The gun-wielding suspect was described as a moustached 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-9, 160-170 pound Latino male in his early 20s. He was wearing a a dark blue jacket with white and camouflage-patterned sleeves. The suspect with the bat was also Latino, in his early 20s, about 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-8, clean-shaven and wearing sunglasses and a dark blue, hooded sweatshirt.

Police reportedly are investigating whether the same suspects may have been involved in the robbery of a Papa Murphy’s pizza outlet in nearby American Fork on Monday.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call Provo police at 801-852-6210.
