An 18-year-old student was booked into the Davis County Jail Monday on suspicion of setting a fire at Northridge High School in Layton.

Fire crews were called to Northridge, 2430 North Hill Field Road, at 9:48 a.m.

The fire was reported to have started in a boys bathroom. Students and staff were evacuated from the building for about 45 minutes as firefighters extinguished the flames and ventilated the building.

An investigation revealed the 18-year-old had allegedly lit a roll of toilet paper on fire inside a plastic dispenser, Layton Police reported.

The fire damaged the bathroom, but no one was injured, police said.

The teen was booked into jail on suspicion of first-degree felony aggravated arson and class A misdemeanor criminal mischief.
