Enrollment at Southern Utah University, whose wind symphony is shown here, was down 6.65 percent in a student head count comparing the third week of classes to the same time last year. Overall, higher ed enrollment in Utah was down just over 2 percent, which is less than expected after the eligibility age for Mormon missions was lowered.

The sounds of “thunder” will pervade the air when SUU’s Wind Symphony performs John Phillip Sousa’s "The Thunderer" as well as the second movement of Ira Hearshen’s symphony, "After the Thunderer," which is based on the original Sousa piece.

SUU’s Wind Symphony performs in concert on Friday, February 17.

Directed by Dr. Douglas Harris, the concert will take place at Cedar City’s Heritage Center Theatre. The program will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $6 for adults, $4 for SUU Faculty and Staff, $3 for students and youth and SUU students are free with a valid ID.

For tickets, call the ticket office at (435)-586-7872 or order online at www.suu.edu/arts. Tix are also at the door.
