If you collected up all the plastic ever produced, it would be enough to make plastic bags that could cover the earth six times.

That's one of the bits of information in "Plastic Planet," a documentary by Werner Foote that examines the worldwide dependence on plastic — and the dangers that come from using plastic.

The film screens on Tuesday, Jan. 31, at 7 at the City Library auditorium, 210 E. 400 South, Salt Lake City.

"Plastic Planet" is presented by the Utah Film Center. The screening is free to the public.
