Utes still in running for California lineman
The Utah Utes, who want to load up on offensive linemen in their 2012 recruiting class, are still in the running for one highly recruited player out of the junior college ranks.
Carlos Lozano, a 6-foot-7, 375-pound tackle out of East Los Angeles College, said he is still considering the Utes along with Washington State and Kansas.
Lozano recently visited Utah and said he believes he could be a good fit with the Utes.
"They are a good program and I think I can come there and have the chance to make an impact, get my degree and take my talents to the highest level," he said.
Lozano said he won't make his announcement until Feb. 1, national signing day.
He also plans to trip to Florida International this weekend after a home visit with FIU coaches impressed his family.
Lozano is rated a Top 50 junior college prospect by many scouting services and could go a long ways in helping the Utes replace departing players John Cullen and Tony Bergstrom.
The Utes have commitments from six offensive linemen.
