But Steve Young was a “better ambassador” for the LDS Church, so the thinking goes, as a pro quarterback and future Hall-of-Famer than as a full-time missionary for his faith.
Ditto for pop icon Donny Osmond, who was seen as able to do more to spread the word by belting out songs than by knocking on doors.
