The Cougars have a big advantage inside against Weber State here at the Marriott Center, and they are exploiting that edge through the first 20 minutes.
At halftime, BYU leads Weber State 47-34 in what has been a spirited instate battle so far. The Cougars have blocked seven shots (Brandon Davies has three blocks) and have 13 second-chance points on seven offensive rebounds.
The Wildcats kept it close the first half and trailed just 22-20 after Kyle Tresnak followed a missed shot with a putback. But WSU's Scott Bamforth was assessed a technical foul for bumping a BYU player heading back upcourt.
The Cougars promptly went on a 20-4 run to get some breathing room.
WSU's Damian Lillard, the nation's leading scorer with a 28.2 average, has been kept in check.
Lillard is 4 of 10 from the field and has nine points. But he has grabbed eight rebounds. Noah Hartsock already has 10 rebounds for BYU, and 14 points.
