Salt Lake City police are looking for a man who tried to rob a fast food restaurant in the Avenues on Friday morning.

Police say just before 9:30 a.m. a man entered a Subway sandwich shop at 402 E. 6th Avenue and demanded money, saying he had a gun.

The cashier wasn’t able to open the cash register fast enough and the suspect fled, according to police.

Witnesses describe and surveillance video shows the suspect as an adult white male between 35 and 45 years old with slicked-back brown and gray hair and facial hair stubble. He is roughly 5 feet 7 inches tall and 150 pounds. He was seen wearing a blue jacket with black-colored shoulders and goggle-style dark sunglasses.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 801-799-3000. Callers may remain anonymous.
