Re “Special counsel will investigate John Swallow’s financial arrangements” (Tribune, May 11): How many probes and investigations does it take for Utah Attorney General John Swallow to finally step down from office? Maybe the question is, how many days does he have left before his lifetime insurance and pension kicks in? Whatever it is, the people of this state deserves better people in office to represent them. Based on reporting by the local newspapers, it is clear that the time has come to appoint a team of special prosecutors to investigate the conduct of former Utah Attorney General Mark Shurtleff, his hand-picked successor, John Swallow, and senior officials in the Attorney General’s Office. LONDON • When Ray Harryhausen was 13, he was so overwhelmed by “King Kong” that he vowed he would create otherworldly creatures on film. He fulfilled his desire as an adult, thrilling audiences with skeletons in a sword fight, a gigantic octopus destroying the Golden Gate Bridge, and a six-armed dancing goddess. Utah private school wrongly took special needs scholarship money

A private Salt Lake City school wrongly claimed at least $28,420 in state scholarship money meant to help special needs students, according to a new state school board audit. The SEPS Learning Center took the Carson Smith Special Needs Scholarship cash this school year for a number of students who either never attended SEPS or left during the school year, according to the audit.
