Provo • Timpanogos’ Jacob Heslington was pleased to defend his Class 4A state title in the 1,600 meters during Friday’s state track meet at BYU. But there also was a little disappointment. He fell just short of breaking the state record in the event, crossing the line in 4 minutes, 12.22 seconds. The state record is 4:11.38, which was set in 2001. Mitchell, S.D. • A record-setting amputee athlete from South Dakota has died after losing a second battle with cancer. Hunter Bork, 23, died Tuesday at a Vermillion hospital, according to Kober Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements were still pending early Thursday. Bork starred in track and field for Mount Vernon High School but lost his left leg to bone cancer shortly after graduating.
