COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. • It was a bigger-than-average tree rescue for firefighters in Colorado Springs. They had to use a ladder truck to reach a black bear after it fell asleep in a tall pine tree after being tranquilized Sunday. The bear weighed between 150 and 200 pounds. Four people were displaced Friday afternoon after a fire damaged their home near the University of Utah. The fire started about 3:15 p.m. in a second-floor room of the house, which has been converted into several apartments, said Salt Lake City Fire Deputy Chief Dan Walker. West Salt Lake City blaze turns into domestic violence case

Firefighters quickly doused a blaze at a northwest Salt Lake City home late Wednesday morning, but the scene soon turned into a police matter.
