Posted: 12:39 PM- A Kanab man who police say suffered from dementia and wandered from his home last was found dead Tuesday in a creek bed.

An autopsy was underway Wednesday to determine whether William Custer, 72, died from exposure or natural causes, said Kanab police Chief Tom Cram.

Custer suffered from a form of dementia, Cram said, and rode away from his home on his bicycle Thursday night or Friday morning, Cram said.

His caregiver reported him missing Saturday night. A citizen found Cram's body in the bed of Kanab Creek about 6:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Custer's bicycle was located nearby, Cram said.
