You will have to wait until Monday.
Shortly after the Cougars defeated Air Force 38-24, BYU coach Bronco Mendenhall told the players to do two things: enjoy the win, and politely decline to answer questions about the rivalry game.
"No next week talk," acknowledged defensive lineman Jan Jorgensen, a response seconded by receiver Austin Collie and quarterback Max Hall.
"I told our players, just to prepare you, they are not to speak about next week's game," Mendenhall told reporters. "They will answer questions about this game, and then they will be open Monday for that. Hopefully you will acknowledge that and let them enjoy this one and make comments about this one."
Asked by an ESPN reporter why the gag order on Utah was in place, Mendenhall said, "Because our community doesn't treat next week's game like it is another game, and they try to stir up and capture content that isn't really ....it is divisive early on in the week."
Wounded Cougars
BYU will enter the Utah game with a lot of injury questions, most notably regarding tight end Dennis Pitta. The junior left the game in the fourth quarter with what Mendenhall called a MCL sprain and was visibly limping when he left the field.
Defensive back Andrew Rich left with a "bell-ringer," and offensive guard Ray Feinga left in the first half with back spasms. Starting inside linebacker Shawn Doman suffered an appendicitis attack on Friday and did not make the trip to Colorado Springs. Junior Matt Ah You started in his place.
Also, Daniel Sorensen, a backup outside linebacker, sprained his ankle Thursday night at practice and also did not make the trip.
Mendenhall said all six players will be evaluated Monday.
Morgan's moment
Blake Morgan, a freshman defensive back from Greeley, Colo., was not even supposed to make the trip. But when Sorensen got hurt, Morgan got the opportunity to travel with the team. He ended up making one of the biggest plays of the game, delivering a hit on AFA kick returner Reggie Rembert that caused a fumble that Spencer Hadley recovered.
Unfortunately, Morgan's family didn't see the game because it was at his brother's high school football player game.
Briefly
C.J. Santiago was the player selected to carry the BYU flag onto the field. The former player carrying the flag was running back Mark Atuaia......Running back Harvey Unga did not start, but was in the game after three plays.....Three F-15s buzzed the stadium just before kickoff....Attendance was 42,177, with BYU fans well-represented.
