Robarts competed on everything but the uneven bars.
She replaced sophomore Jamie Deetscreek - who fell onto the uneven bars and scored a 9.275 - and led off the Utes with a 9.725 on beam. Robarts also replaced Katie Kivisto, who had a break in her uneven bars routine and scored a 9.625, as the leadoff gymnast on floor and scored a 9.625.
She also scored a 9.8 on the vault, the only event she originally was scheduled to compete in.
"I just went in and rolled with it," she said. "I was glad I could help out."
Utah coach Greg Marsden said he went with Robarts because she had more difficulty in her routines.
"I was concerned about putting our freshmen in that kind of position, but I had a good feeling in warm-ups and as the meet went on that she was in a good place. She did a pretty nice job; I know she can do much better."
Up next
Both teams continue their schedule against highly ranked opponents. Utah is at home against No. 7 Nebraska on Friday, and has its first road meet against No. 18 Arizona State on Jan. 25. Georgia is on the road for its first three meets of the 2008 season. It competes at No. 5 Stanford on Sunday, then travels to No. 2 Florida on Jan. 18 before its first home meet on Jan. 26 against No. 10 LSU.
Olympic dreams
Utah senior Ashley Postell is considering trying to qualify for the 2008 Olympics while Georgia's Courtney Kupets decided in December not to try for the Olympics. She was a member of the 2004 Olympic team along with Georgia teammate Courtney McCool.
Briefly for Utah
Friday's crowd of 13,339 was short of breaking into the list of largest for a home Utah meet, but was the largest since 14,044 saw the Utes compete against Arkansas, BYU and SUU in February. . . . Ute freshman Gael Mackie, who joined the team in December, didn't compete Friday except in exhibition on the uneven bars.
Briefly for Georgia
As tradition, Georgia's gymnasts wore the same leotards they wore when they won the national title last year in the season opener. . . . The additional TV cameras following Georgia throughout Friday's competition were from Fox Sports, which is filming a special on the team
