Dixie clinches D-II bid

Dixie State's men's basketball team earned its first NCAA Division II postseason berth by defeating Hawaii Pacific 106-99 on Saturday and clinching a share of the Pacific West Conference championship.

Tom Whitehead led the Storm (20-5, 14-2 PWC) with 27 points. Dixie will learn its NCAA West Region seeding and first-round opponent Tuesday.

Seattle 74, Utah Valley 64 » The Wolverines concluded their regular season with a loss at home. Aaron England scored 14 points to lead UVU (12-17, 5-7 Great West), which opens the conference tournament at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the UVU Events Center.

Women

BYU 70, TCU 65 » Haley Hall scored 17 points to lead the host Cougars (20-8, 11-5 Mountain West) past the regular-season conference champion Frogs. BYU earned the MWC's No. 2 seed for the conference tournament and a bye into the semifinals; the Cougars will play Wyoming, UNLV or San Diego State at 3:30 p.m. Friday.

Utah 64, Colorado State 52 » The Utes (19-10, 10-6) used a 14-0 second-half run to pull away from the visiting Rams. As the No. 4 seed, Utah opens the MWC tourney Tuesday against Air Force at 3 p.m.

Utah State 53, Hawaii 51 » Tahara Williams made two free throws in the closing seconds to give the Aggies (13-16, 5-11 Western Athletic) a home victory. USU opens the WAC tournament Wednesday as the seventh seed in a game against Louisiana Tech at 9:30 p.m. in Reno, Nev.

Oral Roberts 97, Southern Utah 81 » The Thunderbirds' season ended with a loss in the Summit League tournament in Sioux Falls, S.D.
