College football pollsters were impressed by BYU's 54-3 win over Tulane and mixed regarding Utah's 24-14 conquest of San Jose State.

The Cougars jumped to No. 7 in the Associated Press Top 25 poll, and No. 9 in the USA Today/Coaches Poll, while the Utes dropped a spot to 18 in the AP poll and gained a spot to 16 in the coaches poll.

For BYU, the good news regarding Sunday's voting is that it has passed Boise State in the coaches poll (the Broncos are No. 10), the one used in the Bowl Championship Series formula.

The Cougars were able to move up because a pair of teams ranked ahead of them, Oklahoma State and Ohio State, lost on Saturday.

Another Mountain West Conference team, TCU, is No. 15 in both polls after knocking off the ACC's Virginia on Saturday.

BYU plays host to Florida State on Saturday in Provo, while Utah travels to Oregon.
