Utah County residents will have another chance to weigh in on a proposal to span Utah Lake with a bridge.

The state Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands will conduct a public meeting at 6 p.m. Nov. 11 in Saratoga Springs to discuss the bridge. The meeting will be in the multipurpose room of Saratoga Shores Elementary School, 1415 S. Parkside Drive.

Utah Crossing is proposing to build a bridge from just north of Pelican Point in Saratoga Springs and go northeast to Vineyard and link up with Orem 800 North. Leon Harward, Utah Crossing's president, said the project would create a true east-west corridor in Utah County.

Since the bridge will not be built on wetlands, it only needs state approval.

The bridge would be privately owned and financed through tolls, which Harward said would be about the same price as a gallon of gas.

Critics, ranging from the Sierra Club to sailboat enthusiasts and anglers, say the bridge would harm the lake and encourage sprawl development on the valley's west side.

The Utah Lake Commission previously conducted a hearing in Provo on the bridge proposal.
