Posted: 12:42 AM- A 43-year-old Layton man died this morning after being ejected from his semi truck.
Curtis Thompson was driving east on State Road 30 near Grouse Creek in northwest Utah, when he drifted off the right shoulder and swerved back on to the road. He hit a steep embankment and his 2002 Kenworth, pulling a flat bed loaded with crushed metal, did a three-quarter roll.
Highway Patrol spokesman Cameron Roden said it appears fatigue was a factor in the crash, adding there was no indication of high speed. It appears Thompson was not wearing a seat belt, he said.
A passer-by reported the wreck around 7:30 a.m., but the wreck may have occurred between one and two hours earlier, Roden said.
