Vanessa Hudgens
C+
Surprisingly, the first track of "Identified" makes it clear that Disney is trying to establish a long career for the "High School Musical" 19-year-old, rather than just capitalize on her kiddie-pop success.
"Last Night" is a slide guitar-infused piece of bluesy pop that shows Hudgens' soulful voice, and is the most fun track on the album.
Her first single "Sneakernight" is also different from the expected bubblegum, with a propulsive piano sounding like Christina Aguilera's experimentation with big-band music.
Unfortunately, the rest of the album isn't as memorable, as her voice gets the standard vocoder treatment that is infecting all pop albums these days. (Thanks but no thanks, T-Pain.)
