Posted: 5:53 PM- Danny White has resigned after three seasons as coach and general manager of the Utah Blaze, the club announced Monday afternoon.

The announcement comes two days after the Blaze lost 49-44 at home to the Colorado Crush in an Arena Football League wild card playoff game. Utah finished 6-11, its third-straight losing season under White since joining the AFL in 2006.

Overall, the Blaze were 21-30 under White.

"After a lot of thought and soul-searching and conferring with my family, I have decided to resign from the Utah Blaze," White said in a team news release. "It's time from me to take a break. It's been a long, hard season, but I have never been more proud of any team that I have coached because of the way they came back."

The Blaze lost their first nine games in 2008, but won six of their next seven to earn the right to host a playoff game.

White was in the final year of a three-year contract.

Blaze owner John Garff said White was a fine representative of the franchise and accepted his resignation.

"Danny has been the face of our organization since the inception of the franchise and we appreciate his tireless effort and diligence over the last three seasons in putting us on the AFL map. His effort will not be forgotten," Garff said. "Danny has been a tremendous ambassador for the league and our franchise and has represented the organization in a manner consistent with the Garff family values and for that we are indebted to him."
