Posted: 9:22 PM- Dan Liljenquist appears headed for victory over Ronald Mortensen in the state's only primary election for the state Senate.

With two-thirds of the votes counted, Liljenquist had a huge lead over Mortensen in the Senate District 23 Republican run-off to replace retiring Sen. Dan Eastman.

Liljenquist had endorsements from four of the five South Davis mayors, the area's entire state Senate delegation, Davis County Chamber of Commerce President John Pitt and at least half a dozen council members.

Mortensen said his anti-tax stance had energized grass-roots supporters but angered establishment Republicans.
