None were seriously injured, but the gunman escaped after shooting into the crowd at the Three Alarm Saloon, 7273 S. State St., Midvale, police Sgt. John Salazar said.
The incident began after two men entered the bar around 11:45 p.m., he said.
The first man entered without showing ID and was wrestled to the floor by staff at the saloon, said owner Jack Carlton, who did not see the incident. His friend then stepped inside the doorway and began shooting, Carlton said. The first man had been escorted out of the saloon last week. The gun was a silver 9 mm handgun, Salazar said. The shooter hit one man in the foot, another in the shoulder, and a woman in the breast. Other rounds lodged in the bar's pool tables and floor.
Both men fled, witnesses told police. One escaped in a car and the other may have run. The exact escape method was unclear, Salazar said.
Police from several Salt Lake Valley agencies gave chase until about 3 a.m., but did not catch the men. They live locally, Salazar said, and are in their early 30s or late 20s. The shooter is a white male, about 5 feet 8 inches tall with facial hair.
The man with the shoulder wound was treated at a hospital and released. The man with the foot injury was still in the hospital Saturday. The woman received minor injuries and was not taken to the hospital.
