Posted: 11:35 AM- Police in West Jordan have tranquilized a cougar that was on the loose Tuesday morning in West Jordan.

Wildlife officials took the mountain lion at around 11 a.m. from a backyard near 8500 South 5000 West. The cougar will be released into the wild, said Sgt. Gregory Butler with the West Jordan Police Department. Specific details on that location were not available.

A couple first spotted the cougar in their backyard at around 6 a.m. after their dog began to bark at the mountain lion.
