A date with plates: Art Access' annual Plates Fundraiser and Exhibition, featuring recycled metal printer's plates as the canvases for 82 established and emerging artists, is Friday from 6-9 p.m. at Art Access Gallery, 230 S. 500 West, Salt Lake City. Maynard and Mozart: In conjunction with Helper's gallery stroll on Saturday, the town will showcase the work of both the Utah Symphony and a rarely viewed private collection of drawings by Maynard Dixon. The musical and art program is the inaugural project of the Helper Arts Council. The symphony performs at 7 and 8:30 p.m. at the Rio Theater, 210 S. Main St.. Pioneering art: The Salt Lake City Arts Council, in cooperation with the Salt Lake City Police Department and the Sorenson Multicultural Center, is showing a new collection of children's art through June. "New Beginnings" features work created in the Computer Clubhouse, an after-school learning program. The exhibit is in the Community Gallery in the Pioneer Police Precinct Building, 1040 W. 700 South, Salt Lake City. Public art for $125: The Utah Arts Council Traveling Exhibition Program (TEP) is calling for reservations from nonprofits and other organizations that wish to display any of 14 traveling exhibitions, including "People, Places, and Things Along US-89," "Early Utah Masterpieces, Block Prints by Everett Ruess," "2008 World of the Wild," and the "2008 All State High School Art Show."
