WASHINGTON - President Bush is set to saddle up with former presidential candidate Mitt Romney for a pair of fundraisers in Utah next month.

Bush and Romney are scheduled to rake in cash at private events on May 28 and 29, according to sources familiar with the fundraisers.

The trip will be Bush's fourth to the state in his eight years in office. He also made two trips here when he was campaigning for the 2000 election.

The president will be raising money for the Republican National Committee, and is joining up with Romney, a Mormon and former head of the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City who is wildly popular in the state. While Bush's approval rating has dipped in most of the country, he still gets positive reviews in Utah, the reddest state in the union.

Romney received about 90 percent of the GOP vote in Utah during the Feb. 5 presidential primary - by far his largest margin in any state. The former Massachusetts governor also raised the most of any presidential hopeful in the Beehive state, about $5.5 million, according to Federal Election Commission records.

The White House said there was no announcement yet on the trip, though it typically does not confirm trips this far out. There also was no word about any public appearance by the president.
