Tom Zirbes
Before leaving his Orem home for every Utah Jazz game, Tom Zirbes lights his Jazz lamp and Jazz Christmas tree for good luck. "We used to light candles, but we got so much stuff, we thought it might be a fire hazard," he said. Zirbes, who hasn't missed a game in five years, has what he calls a "Jazz shrine" on a wall inside his home that includes victory streamers that must touch the Energy Solutions Arena floor before they can be collected. He has no sympathy for players who voluntarily leave the team, such as the Lakers' Derek Fisher and even Jazz great Karl Malone. "Remember the Benedict Malone poster?" he asked. The guy holding it up, "that was me."
