Former President Lyndon B. Johnson would have turned 100 on Aug. 27. In honor of the occasion, the LBJ National Historical Park and other LBJ-affiliated partners are planning a number of events to help the public learn about the nation's 36th president. A highlight will be the opening of the president's office at the Texas White House near Stonewall, Texas, on Aug. 27. This was Johnson's personal residence, and the home office will open to the public for the first time. The LBJ complex, managed by the National Park Service, is 20 miles from Johnson City and includes the Johnson family homes. Other 2008 activities include a Memorial Day tribute to service in Vietnam, movies under the stars, and Christmas lights at the LBJ Ranch.
