Salt Lake City police are searching for a 6-month-old girl who was advertised as "for sale" in a local classified listing.

Police say the girl was listed in the "baby and children" items on http://www.kutv.com for $6,560. The condition of the baby was listed as "used."

A member of the public contacted police after viewing the listing on March 21. The television station pulled the listing off its Web site after discovering the advertisement's content, police said in a news release.

Police want to find the girl to check on her welfare. The person who placed the ad listed a name of Pauline Burgman, but police haven't located a contact number because the listing was deleted, the news release states.

Anyone with information on the child is asked to call 801-799-3000.
