Posted: 8:24 AM- ROY -- A 50-year-old woman has been arrested for investigation of taunting a police dog and disorderly conduct.

Police say they took the Clinton woman had been taken to the K-9 officer's vehicle after she became unruly while they were investigating one of her friends at a convenience store Tuesday.

The woman barked and growled at a 2-year-old shepherd named Halen inside the car, which upset the dog who tried to jump through the cage.

Officers say taunting a police dog is not common, but it is a Class A misdemeanor. Injuring a police dog, or causing a dog to injure itself, is a third-degree felony.
