Posted: 9:57 AM- ST. GEORGE -- A pilot on his way to St. George had to make an emergency landing on Interstate 15 when his airplane ran out of fuel.

Beaver Dam-Littlefield Fire Chief Jeffrey Hunt says the pilot miscalculated how much fuel his Cessna 150 would need for the trip from Las Vegas.

He says the plane landed safely on the highway just over the Arizona border and waited while the state's Department of Public Safety brought more gas. Utah Highway Patrol showed up to help stop freeway traffic while the plane refueled.

After taking off again, the pilot arrived without further incident in St. George.
