Posted: 11:59 AM- A crane operator working on the new physics building at the University of Utah slipped from an 80-foot tower Thursday morning but was saved by his harness.

The accident happened about 7:50 a.m. near 1450 East and 100 South when the 46-year-old man fell about six feet before his safety harness stopped his fall, said Salt Lake City Fire Deputy Chief Dan Andrus. The man swung into the crane and hit his head before his coworkers quickly hauled him in.

Because he complained of back pain and couldn't move well, fire crews used a rope to lower him. He was taken to University Hospital just after 9 a.m. in good condition, Andrus said.
