A 12-year-old boy was kicked, beaten with a bat and stabbed at a St. George park Saturday night by about half a dozen teenagers. The assault occurred at Dixie Downs Park, at approximately 1800 West and 100 North, just after 7 p.m., said St. George police Sgt. Craig Harding. The boy was walking and talking with a girl, when five to six boys, with bandanas covering their faces, began punching and kicking him. They also hit him with a bat before one of the attackers pulled out a knife and stabbed him about six times in the back, Harding said. They then jumped into a dark-colored vehicle and drove away. The girl was not injured. The 12-year-old was taken to a local hospital. His injuries were not life-threatening, Harding said. Police believe the attack involved gang members because of the clothes they were wearing and words they yelled as they were leaving, Harding said. No arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to contact the St. George Police Department.
