The daylong event at the Salt Palace Convention Center starts at 7:30 a.m. Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. will deliver the keynote speech, highlighting economic development in Utah.
Francis J. Carney, with the firm of Anderson and Karrenberg, will receive the professionalism award, given to an attorney who "represents the highest standards of fairness, integrity and civility." Carney is a member of the Supreme Court's advisory committee on the rules of civil procedure and co-chair of the State Bar's character and fitness committee.
David R. Hall, with the firm of Parsons Behle and Latimer, will receive the distinguished service award, given in recognition of leadership in legal profession. Hall has been a member of the Utah Young Lawyers Executive Council for the past five years.
Kelly J. Latimer, Christina L. Micken, and Matthew D. Wride will be honored as distinguished pro bono lawyers of the year for service to the community.
Latimer is an attorney-adviser for the United States Department of the Interior, Office of Hearings and Appeals. Her office serves as the administrative trial court for cases involving use of public lands and resources.
Micken's practice focuses on family law at the firm of Bean and Smedley, where she is a partner. She serves as co-chair of the Tuesday Night Bar Committee and volunteers at two monthly legal clinics and at protective-order hearings.
An associate with the law firm of Kirton & McConkie, Wride works in the corporate and tax section.
