Posted: 12:34 PM- SOUTH OGDEN -- A sheriff's deputy pursuing a car that was traveling around 100 mph finally caught up -- and delivered a baby.

"It definitely ranks as the most amazing experience I've ever had," Davis County Deputy Cory Cox said.

Young Jeon and his wife, Yeojn Hong, left their West Jordan apartment about 3:30 a.m. Monday for the 50-mile drive to a hospital in Ogden. On the way, Hong's water broke.

"Then I started 100, almost 110 (mph) on this small road," Jeon said. "Honestly, I was lucky because all the lights were green on Highway 89."

Cox clocked the Mazda MDX at 95 mph and pursued it. Jeon finally slowed down to turn a corner.

"(Hong) was in the passenger seat, her knees up to her chest, kind of rolled up in a ball, in a pain-type response," Cox said.

The deputy put on rubber gloves and Claire was born in minutes.

"He was just boom, boom, boom. ... Honestly, I think that's a blessing from the Lord," Jeon said of Cox.
