A 29-year-old Hurricane High School teacher accused of having sex with one of her students is facing five counts of first-degree felony rape.

The charges against Cris Lynn Morris were filed in 5th District Court the day after she paid $100,000 bail and was released from Purgatory Correctional Facility in Washington County.

The 17-year-old student told police he had sex with Morris at her home five times between August and October, charging documents state. He said he met Morris twice in her backyard, twice in her living room and once he spent the night in her bedroom after she returned from a school soccer trip.

The boy met Morris when he was a student aide in her classroom, according to the court documents.

When police interviewed Morris, she allegedly admitted the boy was at her home during the time he said sex occurred in the living room. Washington County School District officials said Morris was put on administrative leave after her arrest on Oct. 24. She is scheduled to make her initial court appearance on Tuesday in front of Judge G. Rand Beacham.
