Updated: 1:01 AM- A slow-moving Pacific storm system has moved into northern Utah, and will make things wet and cold at least through tonight.

The storm, which is moving across the Wasatch Front, the western Uinta Mountains and as far south as the Book Cliffs of central Utah, will produce a mix of rain and snow this afternoon, with accumulations forecast for the benches and and above.

The National Weather Service forecast for this afternoon also calls for locally heavy rain, gusty winds and isolated thunderstorms, as well as possible hail in spots and potentially dangerous lightning strikes.

Highs along the Wasatch Front today are expected to top out in the low-50s, with lows tonight dropping to the mid-30s.

The rain and snow could continue on through Thursday morning, before giving way to a high pressure system that will begin to build later Thursday and into Friday. But the wet weather is expected to resume over the weekend, when another storm system moves into northern Utah.
