Posted: 7:15 AM- KUTV sports anchor Dave Fox - one of three people charged in a mortgage fraud case -- is speaking out.

KUTV reports today that Fox, along with Mark Atkin and Verrell Clark Blaisdell, was charged in September with communications fraud.

A 20-year employee of KUTV, Fox ultimately entered a plea in abeyance. That sort of plea involves complying with terms set by the court in return for the plea eventually being dismissed.

KUTV says that in Fox's case, he was ordered to pay a $500 fine and submit to three years' probation.

KUTV reports that Fox is accused of signing loan documents falsely stating he intended to live in the property he was buying.

In an interview broadcast on KUTV, Fox apologized.

"There are so many little things I could have done... things that I could have seen as maybe red flags," he told KUTV. "Have an attorney read a document. Google search people. Ask around. And I didn't do any of that.

"I put myself in a bad situation. When you put yourself in a bad situation, the first thing you try to do is make it right. And that is what I am trying to do," Fox told KUTV. "The second thing you have to do is stand up to the criticism. And it's hard."

KUTV says the case has "brought a level of embarrassment to Fox and KUTV." However, station managers have decided to allow Fox to return as sports anchor.

"We have all made mistakes. I want a chance to put it behind me and regain the trust of the viewers and get back to work," Fox told KUTV.
