Posted: 1:59 PM- ROOSEVELT - Utah wildlife officials are alarmed over the illegal introduction of American bullfrogs.
The frogs were placed in a pond at Roosevelt Golf Course and have moved around the Uinta Basin in eastern Utah.
Trina Hedrick of the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources says it's not good news.
The bullfrogs are known as voracious eaters. They will eat snakes, worms, insects, fish, frogs and salamanders. Small birds and mammals could be at risk, too.
Hedrick says it is illegal in Utah to possess or transport a live American bullfrog. Residents are being asked to contact authorities if they see one.
