In today's primary elections, no candidates will "win," but plenty will lose. Utahns will trim the fields in a handful of mayoral races and scores of city council contests, deciding which hopefuls can keep their signs up until the Nov. 6 general election.

In hotly contested Salt Lake City, polls show mayoral wannabes Ralph Becker, Dave Buhler and Jenny Wilson locked in a three-way dead heat to see which two survive. And Keith Christensen, outgoing Mayor Rocky Anderson's choice, is hoping to break through. These candidates and other municipal hopefuls may be turning up during your commute or on your caller ID as they stake out honk 'n' waves and pound the phones in an effort to get voters to turn out - for them.

When to vote

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. To find your polling location, contact your city recorder's office.
