Toys "R" Us has recalled 27,000 crayon and paint sets made in China because of excessive levels of lead in watercolor paints and in the printed ink on the packaging.

No injuries have been reported from use of the Imaginarium Wooden Coloring Cases, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The paint set was distributed nationwide by Toys "R" Us from October 2006 through this month for about $20, said Nychelle Fleming, spokeswoman for the commission.

Consumers are asked to take the products away from children and return them to the nearest Toys "R" Us outlet for a store credit.

The 213-piece kit includes crayons, pastels, colored pencils, fiber pens, watercolors, a paintbrush, pencil, palette, white paint, ruler and pencil sharpener in a tan wooden case.

The printed ink on the outer packaging of the wood case contains lead. Also, some of the black watercolor paints contain excessive levels of lead, the company said in a statement.

The recall follows Mattel Inc.'s August recall of 9 million Chinese-made toys, including Poly Pockets and Barbie dolls, cars and action figures. Some items were contaminated with lead paint and others had tiny magnets that children might swallow.

Mattel, the nation's largest toy maker, also recalled 1.5 million Fisher-Price infant toys also made in China because of possible lead-paint hazards. And that was on top of a June recall of some Thomas & Friends Wooden Railway toys and other products.
