There's such a barrage of reality shows swallowing up our television time, it's hard to keep track of who's schmoozing whom and who's been doing the backstabbing. Here's the cooler talk about last week's episodes of some of your favorite reality fare, written by The Salt Lake Tribune's resident unscripted-TV buffs. (Warning: Spoilers ahead. If you didn't watch last week, read at your own risk.)

Pirate Master

Tuesdays, 9 p.m., KUTV Channel 2

The Lowdown

"Pirate Master" fans found themselves black-spotted and cut adrift when CBS canceled the show without warning or explanation. Ratings had plummeted, according to network officials. But loyal watchers felt lost at sea when "48 Hours" mysteriously turned up in the time slot for "Pirate Master."

Best Whine and Cheese Moment

Angry viewers are expressing outrage on Web-based message boards, including calls for mutiny (or boycott of CBS shows, if you prefer). The five remaining episodes will be available at http://www.cbs.com. New episodes will be posted each Tuesday.

So You Think You Can Dance

Wednesdays, 7 p.m., and Thursdays, 8 p.m., KSTU Channel 13

The Lowdown

No more of this "dancing for your life" business: The woman and man with the fewest votes automatically got the boot in this elimination. Nigel apologized for having an "anti-war" dance on the show, and America decided Jamie and Kameron were not its favorite dancers.

Best Whine and Cheese Moment

This one came from us at home for having to watch the same dance from each of the top 10 contestants. Seriously, an hour of the exact same dance? What were they thinking?

Top Chef

Wednesdays, 8 p.m., Bravo

Nothing new here.
