The Jazz will wait to decide about buying out Fesenko's contract and bringing him to the U.S. this season but they were able to convince his Ukrainian team to allow him to play in the summer league while being covered by insurance.
Fesenko had to sit out Monday's practice and ride a stationary bike while the contract issues were still pending. He spoke with his Ukrainian coach Tuesday morning, who promised everything would be resolved.
"I didn't even know that I can miss practices so much," Fesenko said. "When you see how all the team practicing and you healthy, you OK, you feel all right but you cannot practice, it's really hard."
The 20-year-old Fesenko, a 7-foot-1 center who has repeatedly been described as a "work in progress," said he was looking forward to playing 5-on-5, which he said is his strong suit.
Guard Ronnie Brewer was expected to miss both sessions of practice Tuesday with a right hamstring strain. Brewer said he was hopeful he could practice Wednesday.
