Posted: 1:12 PM- The group in one car might have witnessed a killing - and the person or people in the other car might have committed the killing.

That's why police in West Valley City want to speak with everyone from both cars, so they can find out who shot and killed 17-year-old Luis A. Trujillo, of Kearns.

About 1:15 a.m. Sunday, Trujillo was one of three teenagers traveling south in a car on Interstate 15.

Near State Road 201, another car pulled beside the three young men began shooting, according to West Valley City police. Investigators do not know what motivated the shooter.

West Valley City Police Capt. Tom McLachlan said a witness came forward to say the suspect's vehicle was a brown or gold full-size sedan, possibly manufactured in the mid 1990s. The witness said the car was driving with its lights off as it pulled behind Trujillo's car, McLachlan said.

The witness also said there also was a white sports-utility vehicle traveling behind Trujillo which may have witnessed the shooting. McLachlan said the vehicle might have been an Isuzu Trooper or Mitsubishi Montero carrying four or five occupants.

After the shooting, Trujillo's car fled to West Valley City. Trujillo died Sunday afternoon.
